Group photo project
A trip to the seaside – 1949 or 1950
We’ve been able to identify a photograph loaned to us as showing a group from
Farnhill Methodist church, possibly the choir, on a day-trip somewhere. Another
photograph shows some of the same group at the seaside, and our best guess is
that they were both taken in 1949 or 1950 on an outing to Morecambe.
Can anyone confirm this ? There are a couple of people we can’t identify; can you
help ?
If so, please contact us at history@farnhill.co.uk
So, where is this ? The building opposite has a sign saying “Central Café” and another
saying “Open on Sundays”.

About the “Group photographs project”
A number of group photographs have been contributed to our archive with very
little information attached to them. The aim of this project is to capture as much
detail as we can from those who might remember the events and people shown.
For this photograph, the “identifiers” were Enga Preston (who provided the first
photograph), Helen Moran (who provided the photograph of the group at the
seaside), Helen Waller, John Lofthouse, and Isobel Stirk.
Can you help ?
Do you know any of the missing names on this photograph or do you have any
other group photographs from Kildwick or Farnhill. If so, please contact us at
